Racing is an activity found in Roadster Raceway accessible from the Minigames Area. In Roadster Raceway, Toons must enter the Roadster Raceway Auto Shop and purchase a Kart with Jellybeans in order to begin racing. Toons can earn trophies, race with friends, and earn Laff Points after reaching Racing Level milestones. There are 30 levels in total, with every 10 levels providing a Laff Boost. Racing can support 1-8 Toons and will give more Racing Level Experience depending on the racetrack, time placed, and the amount of Toons participating

Karts

A Kart is required for a Toon to begin racing. There are three different Karts available to purchase. They are purely aesthetic and do not affect Racing in any way.

Customizing Your Kart
Players can spend Jellybeans to further customize their Karts, but these changes are also for cosmetic purposes only. To change a Kart's appearance, open the Shtickerbook to the Activities ActivitiesSB.png page and navigate to the Racing section. There will be a tab labelled "customize" that will allow you to look through and choose cosmetics for your Kart. To see a full list of accessories, see the Roaster Raceway Auto Shop page.

How To Play

RacingUI.png
RacingSpeedBoost.png

After purchasing a Kart, Toons can walk up to any racetrack entrance, and they will be prompted to place their Kart. Entering a race, unless it is a practice race, will require an entry fee payment of a certain amount of Jellybeans dependent on the type of racetrack. There are 4 types of races: Practice, Toon Battle, Toon Battle Reverse, and Practice Reverse. The reverse versions of these modes act the same way as their original counterparts but the racetrack is reversed. If a Toon Battle race is chosen, it will require at least 2 players to be present to start the race. Practice races, however, can be played alone. The main objective of Racing is to complete the course in under the qualifying time, or to be the fastest and reach first place when racing against other Toons. Assuming all requirements are met and as soon as 1 Toon places their Kart down, a 30 timer will count down, giving time for all players to queue up. Once the timer is up, players will load into the course. Pressing the Enter key, or clicking the play button, will mark that you are ready for the race. All players must click "play", otherwise the race will begin regardless in 10 seconds.

The players position in the race and current Gag (yellow box) can be seen in the bottom left of the screen. The top middle will give an option to leave the race and show the players current time and progress for each lap. If you leave the race before finishing the entry fee will not be refunded and no Jellybeans will be earned. Three laps must be completed for each race in order for rewards to be given. On the upper right, there will be an image of the course's map and a colored circle indicating where the player currently is. If there are multiple players, they can all be seen. The color of the circle is based on the player's Kart's main color. In the bottom right, there is a speedometer to keep track of the player's current speed.

3...2...1...! When the race begins, the Kart can be controlled using WASD or the arrow keys. W/up arrow will move the cart forward, while S/down arrow will move the Kart backwards or slow it down. Driving in the wrong direction will cause "WRONG WAY" to appear over the map in red letters. The Kart can be steered using S/D/left/right arrow. Hitting a wall or driving out of the track's path will cause the Kart to slow down. The Kart will gradually increase in speed while driving, but driving too fast will make turns difficult. While racing, there will be different obstacles and gimmicks throughout, such as Speed Boosts. Speed Boosts will appear on certain parts of each track. They can be identified as multiple red arrows in a line. Driving over the arrows will instantly speed the Kart up for a certain distance. If an obstacle is hit while the boost is present, the animation will play but the boost will continue. Additionally, there will be various "presents" laid in rows on parts of the course. Driving over these will reward the player with a random Gag that can be used to either benefit yourself or create a disadvantage for other players.

When all 3 laps have been completed by the player, the results screen will appear, showing the total time taken to complete all laps, placement, and rewards given. The number of Jellybeans earned shown on the menu will include any increased values caused by Boosters or Wealthy Wednesday for all players. Additionally, despite the "bonus" section being included, there are no possible bonuses to be earned in Racing. Qualifying times will be large and in red text, while non-qualifying times will be small with black text. Players can choose to then leave the race even if there are still other players finishing. After exiting, the player will return to Roadster Raceway.

Gags
There are 10 different Gags that can be obtained from presents during Racing, each with a unique mechanic. Players in first, or a high placement, will receive weaker Gags (such as Banana Peel) compared to players in lower places or last place. Gags can be used by either clicking spacebar or the CTRL key. The direction in which the Gag is thrown cannot be chosen. Only one Gag can be held at a time.

Gag Ability Gag Ability
Quicksand.png
Quicksand
A pile of Quicksand is placed on the track behind the user. If any player, including the user, drives over it, their tires will become covered with mud and their speed will slowly diminish for several seconds. This Gag will always stay on the course once placed. Pixie Dust.png
Pixie Dust
The user flashes through rainbow colors and becomes invincible for several seconds. Hitting any Gags left on the track will destroy them.
Lightning.png
Lightning
Upon use, the Lightning will darken the sky and shrink everyone but the user for several seconds, slowing them down. This can only be used by players in 4th place and below, meaning it will not appear in 1-3 player races. ChatteringTeeth.png
Cog Teeth
Throws a pair of Cog Teeth ahead of the user and only targets the player in first place. If struck, it launches them into the air, causing a loss in all momentum and immobility for several seconds. This can only be used by players in 3rd place and below, meaning it will not appear in 1-2 player races. If the player in first has finished the race before the other players, and Cog Teeth are used, it will not target 2nd place and will avoid all remaining players.
Whole Cream Pie.png
Whole Cream Pie
Throws a Whole Cream Pie towards the closest player to the user, targeting them directly, covering the screen in pie splatter if hit. Cream Pie Slice.png
Cream Pie Slice
Similar to Whole Cream Pie but does not auto-target the racer ahead of the user.
TNT.png
TNT
TNT is placed on the track behind the user and launches whoever touches it into the air, causing a loss in all momentum and immobility for several seconds. Kart Battery.png
Kart Battery
Forces the user's Kart forward and gives a speed boost for a several seconds. The user cannot slow down during this time. If the user runs over a Gag, they will play through the animation but continue their speed boost afterwards.
Bowling Ball.png
Bowling Ball
Launches a Bowling Ball towards the closest player to the user, having a chance to hit another player. If hit, it will crush them, making them immobile for several seconds. Banana Peel.png
Banana Peel
Places a Banana Peel on the track behind the user, having a chance to hit another player. If hit, it will cause them to spin out of control for a few seconds.

Race Tracks

RRStadium.png
RRUrban.png
RRRural.png

There are six racetracks in Roadster Raceway that fall under 1 of 3 categories:

  • Stadium
    • Screwball Stadium
    • Corkscrew Coliseum
  • Urban
    • Rustic Raceway
    • Airborne Acres
  • Rural
    • City Circuit
    • Blizzard Boulevard

There are 3 areas and 4 entrances in the Playground, each area dedicated to one of the categories of tracks. The entrances will refresh every 20 seconds to swap to a different type of track. For example, if you wanted to enter a Screwball Stadium race, you would head to the Stadium entrances and wait for one of the boards to state it is a Screwball Stadium race rather than a Corkscrew Coliseum race. There are 3 types of races: Practice, Toon Battle, and Reverse. Each race requires an entry fee of a certain amount of Jellybeans (with the exception of practice races).

Practice Races
Toons who are short on Jellybeans can enter practice races with no entry fee. There are practice races available for all six racetracks. Practice races will still reward Jellybeans and include Gag boxes. However, Racing Experience is cut to a rate of 67% (roughly 2/3 rate). Up to 4 players can participate in a practice race but only 1 is required for one to start.

Toon Battle
Toon Battle races are competitive races where Toons can race against other players. Toon Battles have entry fees which are different depending on the chosen racetrack. Toons can earn more Jellybeans and Racing Experience from Toon Battles, making it a much more efficient way to increase your Racing Level than practice races. Up to 8 players can participate in a Toon Battle race but only 2 are required for one to start. If the qualifying time is not achieved, the Toon will receive their entry fee back, resulting in no Jellybeans earned or lost. The Jellybeans earned is based on the 1st place prize for an 8 player battle. For example, if only 2 Toons race, they will receive the amount of Jellybeans dedicated for the 7th and 8th place of a 8 player race. The 7th place being the player in 1st place for the 2 Toon race and the 8th place being the 2nd place Toon.

Records

RacingPage2.png

In your Shtickerbook, on the Activities ActivitiesSB.png page under Racing, there is a tab dedicated to records. This tab will list all possible racetracks and the fastest time it has taken you to complete it. If you have not done the course, it will list the value as N/A.

Additionally, if your score is great enough, it could be displayed on the leaderboards present in Roadster Raceway. There are dedicated leaderboards that refresh daily, showing off the top 10 quickest racing Toons in Toontown. Players who are in first place for every type of racetrack will have a golden statue of themselves displayed at the entrance of Roadster Raceway.

Racing Levels

After completing a race, Racing Experience can be earned, increasing your Racing Level. Racing Experience is calculated with the following formula:

TrackExperience * PlacementMultiplier

TrackExperience is calculated at a rate of 100 EXP per minute on the qualifying time.

Track Qualifying Time TrackExperience
Screwball Stadium 4:00:00 400
Corkscrew Coliseum 5:00:00 500
Rustic Raceway 6:00:00 600
Airborne Acres 6:30:00 650
City Circuit 7:00:00 700
Blizzard Boulevard 7:30:00 750

For PlacementMultiplier, note that the experience for each placement depends on the number of players in a race, noted by what each what the multiplier is for 1st place at that number of Toons and what the placement is in an 8 player race.

  • Placable Gags can be placed in the air.
  • Running over a speed boost while driving the wrong way will not activate it.
