v2.0.0

v2.0.0 is the next major update to be released for Toontown: Corporate Clash. The release date for this update is unknown, though the first wide-scale playtest / stress-test is aimed to be done sometime by Q2, 2025, with a confirmed release date some time after the playtesting session concludes.[1] The update aims to create a unified Toon Inventory System, update Toon Estates, and introduce new General Stores to the game.[2]

Hammerspace

Hammerspace is one of the new major additions coming in v2.0.0. This feature serves as a new form of inventory for Toons, allowing them to easily access all Clothing and Accessories, Profile Components, Stickers, and any other collectibles in the game.[3]

Toons

Toons will get some adjustments in this update.

  • Toon movement and camera controls are being reworked to remove turning, strafing, and backpedaling. This can be seen in motion here.[4]
  • This update involves a lot of adjustments to the coding for Toon models, which will improve the way they work, potentially allowing for decreased lag in game when there are multiple players present.[5] It is said that Toon loading will be sped up by 5x.[6]
  • New body groups for accessories beyond the basic hats/glasses/backpacks/shoes will be capable with the addition of Mix-and-Match such as neck slots for accessories like scarves.[4]
    • Accessories will now use locators to determine their body grouping instead of distinguished sections. It is said the new body grouping will be akin to Team Fortress 2's equip regions.[7]
    • Toons will be able to wear up to three hats.[6]

Estates

Estates will be getting a revamp in this update, with emphasis on social and customizable options.[6][1]
Confirmed additions:

  • Toons will be able to purchase more interiors or exteriors as they wish and can connect them together via hallways or doors.
  • Toons will be able to link their Estates together by purchasing Gateway Tickets, which will allow two doors or hallways to link together allowing for travel between both Estates.
  • Toons will be able to purchase new Estate Kits which come bundled with specific interior and exterior areas. Some Estate Kits will also include furniture.
    • The current Estate layout will be available as the default Estate Kit.
  • The Cattlelog will be replaced with the General Store system.[1]
  • A public Estates "phonebook" allowing Toons to make their Estate visitable by any other Toons.
  • Estates will have new interior and exterior models.
  • There will be a new furniture placement editor.
  • New furniture will be added.[6]

Possible additions:

  • Progression elements added to Estates.[6]

General Stores

General Stores are one of the new major additions being added in the v2.0.0 Update. These stores will be found in every playground serving as replacements for both the Cattlelog and the Clothing Shop.[1] Some notes about General Stores are as follows:

  • These stores will sell everything including Clothing, Furniture, and SpeedChat Phrases.[1]
    • Different vendors will sell different things.[8]
    • Most items will be available at all times.[9]
  • Each store will have their own vendor with their own wonderful and wacky personalities, all having their own stories to tell.
  • These stores will receive a new UI allowing for easier shopping. Items will also be directly placed in Toons' inventories now.
  • Certain items will get discounts around certain holidays. Items will also be discounted if the vendor feels like it.
  • A few new Specialist Stores will be added where only specific items will be sold.
    • One of these stores is teased to include a well-loved character reprising their role as a vendor.[1]

Misc. Additions

  • New foil versions of Stickers are being added to the game.
  • New rarities for drops (Uncommon, Rare, and Ultra Rare) can be seen in the screenshot teasing Hammerspace.

Deconfirmed Additions

The following things have been confirmed NOT to be releasing in v2.0.0:

  • Boardbot HQ[3]
  • Overclocked C.F.O.[3]
  • The Mix-and-Match system (though some of the features planned for it, such as accessory body groups, will still ship with v2.0.0).[6]
  • Equipment

Equipment Update

Equipment are items that can be equipped by Toons to modify their stats in battle. As of currently, little is known about them beyond the fact that they will not be tied to cosmetics in any way.[10] This update will be developed sometime after v2.0's release.[6]

Mix-and-Match Update

The Mix-and-Match update will completely overhaul Toon species, including their appearance, animations, and customizability. This update will not be released with v2.0.0 and will continue its development sometime after 2.0's release.[6]

The Mix-and-Match Machine

The Mix-and-Match Machine is the defining feature of the Mix-and-Match update. This feature brings with it animated Toon heads and allows for much more freedom with Toon customization, allowing players to freely mix and match parts from multiple different species when creating their Toon.[5] Some additional notes about Mix-and-Match are as follows:

  • A variety of new Toon parts are planned to be added in addition to the current ones such as hair.[4]
    • New "inorganic" Toon parts are being added as well as standard parts. These parts will be much rarer than normal parts and will be obtained from places such as events, the Cattlelog, or as boss drops.[4]
  • The Laff Meter's and noises for Toons will potentially be able to be customized in the same way as the models.[11]

Taskline Revamp

A brand new Taskline is being constructed. It will revisit how ToonTasks are presented to make them more engaging. It is said to be released sometime after v2.0.[6] This is noted to be a "full redo" of the game's experience.[12] Details about the Taskline revamp were discussed in the "Backstage Corporate Clash: Writing Team Q&As!" Blogpost. Notable information includes:

  • Break The Law and its characters will likely become part of the new main campaign in a new, re-imagined way.[13]
  • The Chief Justice is no longer canon in Corporate Clash.[13]
  • The Regional Managers will be far better integrated into the main campaign.[13]
  • Toons will have much more presence in the story of Corporate Clash.[13]

Upcoming Events

Regarding events, the Clash Crew will only be working on 0-1 events per year. This means that any future events will be reruns of past events with little changes between the years. New events will be introduced or will replace past events if they determine that they are a better fit for the game.[11]

Other Upcoming Content

The content listed in this section has no known updates tied to them and is currently unknown when or if it will be released.

  • The Dividend King and Crystalline are both stated to be upcoming hires to C.O.G.S. Inc,. They were revealed in the 2023 version of the Chief Operating Officer battle.
  • Various new radio themes can be heard in the C.O.O. fight, usually to tease upcoming content.
  • Doodles will be returning.[14]
  • There is interest in bringing back the models for Count Erclaim and Count Erfit, however, no concrete plans have been made.[11]
  • More spaces for purchasable SpeedChat messages will be added.[15]
  • Plans for Ubers being added back into the game have been made.[16]
  • Streets will be given a new animation whenever parts of them load in, with the buildings popping out of the ground rather than fading in like they currently do. This was supposed to be added in the v1.4.0 (Summer Update), but was not included. Due to issues with developing the feature, this has been pushed back.[1]
  • Several rewards will be given out to players at an unknown time due to reaching all milestones from the Makeship Duck Shuffler Plushie campaign:
    • Duck Shuffler comic
  • Milestone rewards from the Firestarter and Pacesetter Plush campaign.
    • Firestarter and Pacesetter Nameplate/Profile Background
    • Firestarter and Pacesetter In-game Pride Stickers
    • There are plans to add rewards for stretch goal tiers that were not reached (Firestarter and Pacesetter In-game Accessories, Firestarter and Pacesetter Comic), though this will be at a later date while other features are prioritized.[17]
  • Battle animations for Toons are largely being sped up, Toons will use most Gag Tracks in rapid succession of each other.[11]
    • This implementation will consider the effects it currently has on battles such as the Pacesetter, where the battle is naturally fast as well as how it will affect the ability to use Unites effectively.[15]
  • The HUD will receive a revamp, aiming to reduce and change elements that block large portions of the screen.[6]
    • This includes the Shtickerbook, allowing Toons to have it open while freely moving in the game.
    • Players can see information about other Toons in their group at the top left of the screen.
    • A variety of UI elements will be converted to use this system, like Toon Tips.
    • New UI features will be added as well, such as the ability to see other Toon's pie counts during the V.P. battle.
    • This was originally planned for v2.0.0, but has been pushed back to allow the team to focus on Hammerspace as well as other more important aspects of the update.[1]
