Not to be confused with the Cog attack Pink Slip.

Pink Slips, also known as Fires, are a Boss Reward that instantly take a Cog out of battle with perfect accuracy. This reward will always go first in a battle. Pink Slips are obtained by defeating the Bossbot Chief Executive Officer in Bossbot Headquarters.

When a Pink Slip is used, the Toon hits a button, and one of two things will happen:

  1. If the Cog is above Level 4 (Level 5 or higher), a cannon will rise out of the ground, load the Cog in it, aim above the Toon's head, and then fire the Cog out of it. As the cannon is rising, the Toon will wave at the Cog. When the cannon is aiming, the Toon will duck.
  2. If the Cog is Level 4 or below, the Cog will simply say "You can't fire me, Toon. I quit." and fly off. The Toon then just shrugs.

To successfully fire a Cog, Pink Slips equaling 1/3 of the Cog's level are required. For example, firing a Level 12 Cog will consume 4 Pink Slips. If the number is a decimal, it will simply round up. Note that using a Pink Slip will give the Toon a Reward Cooldown of 2 rounds.

Manager Bosses are completely immune to Pink Slips. Some Managers have specific cheats meant to prevent weaker Cogs from being fired. Trying to fire a Manager will not consume the amount of Pink Slips needed.

Trivia

  • A Pink Slip is a notice of dismissal from employment.
  • The cannon is a pun on "getting fired"; instead of being removed from their position, they are physically fired out of a cannon.
  • Manager Bosses have taunts for trying to fire them. Their default one is "You can't fire me, Toon. I have tenure."
    • A tenure is a condition that prevents something from being fired without cause.
  • Pink Slips also take off both layers of a Version 2.0 Cog, provided it is not a Manager which is currently impossible to find.
  • Fired Cogs are shown in their "unemployed" outfit, which turns their suit gray and removes any department patterns.
    • Bagholders, Insiders, and Head Honchos have accessories that change into this color
    • Fired Cogs also lose the department name on their nametag while in this state.
  • In the v1.2.9 update, firing a Flunky under Level 5 would have yield a unique phrase before flying away.
    • The phrase is actually the standard firing phrase for that level, but caesar-shifted to 13. It was meant to find the password for the Chainsaw Consultant's account on cogs.ink.
  • The maximum amount of Pink Slips that can be held is 9999.
