Cease & Desists, also known as Sues, are Boss Rewards that prevent a Cog from attacking. Cease & Desists are obtained by defeating the Chief Legal Officer in Lawbot Headquarters. Cease & Desists can be used in battle by clicking the "Sue" icon on the left side of the battle menu. Toons can view how many Cease & Desists they have on the Gags information panel of the Gag menu.
How Cease & Desists work
Functionality:
- Using a Cease & Desist on a Cog will apply the
sued debuff, preventing the Cog from attacking.
- The sued debuff will last 4 rounds (includes the round the C&D is used).
- Each Gag that damages this Cog will increase the debuff's duration by +1 round, capping at 4 rounds at any given time.
- Using a Cease & Desist will give the Toon a
Reward Cooldown lasting 2 rounds.
- Reward Cooldown prevents Toons from using any Boss Rewards while active.
Usage Cost:
- Suing a Cog requires 1/4 of the Cog's level in Cease & Desists rounded up to the nearest integer.
- For example, suing a Level 12 Cog will consume 3 Cease & Desists.
Exceptions:
- The sue debuff's duration is affected by Status Effects with debuff resistances.
- For example, a sued Skelecog will be sued for and has a cap of 3 rounds.
- Virtual Skelecogs will only remain sued during the turn the Cease & Desist is used, unless damaged by a Gag in the same turn. Doing so will set the Cease & Desist debuff to 2 rounds on the next turn.
- The maximum number of rounds the sue debuff can have on Virtual Skelecogs at any given time is 2 rounds.
- Manager Bosses are completely immune to Cease & Desists. Some Managers have specific cheats meant to prevent weaker Cogs from being sued as well.
- Failing to sue a Cog will not consume any Cease & Desists.

Version History
- v1.8.0 BETA
Cease and Desists now last for 4 rounds max instead of 5.
Cease and Desists are now affected by Skeletal Structure and Virtualized.
This includes the maximum amount of rounds Cease & Desists can last: 3 for Skelecogs and 2 for Virtual Skelecogs.
[undocumented] Virtual Skelecogs have a unique resistance to Cease & Desist, removing its effect at the end of the round it's used unless attacked with another Gag in the same turn.
- v1.4.4 BETA
Fixed an issue that allowed Toons to use fires and sues on insured Cogs.
- v1.4.0 BETA
Updated the visuals of the C&D and Pink Slip icons.
Fixed an issue that would cause Reward Cooldowns to not properly apply visually when using an IOU, C&D, or Pink Slip.
- v1.3.0 BETA
C&Ds will no longer be refreshed to their maximum rounds upon being hit with a Gag. Instead, the rounds will be incremented by one (1) for each Gag used.
The initial rounds of a C&D has been decreased to 4, however, the maximum number of rounds that a C&D can have is 5.
IOUs, Cease & Desists, and Pink Slips all have 2-turn cooldowns.
- v1.2.7.8 BETA
Fixed a long-standing graphical issue related to the stun/sue visual effect on virtual Skelecogs.
- v1.2.6 BETA
The following items will now be displayed on the left side of the screen upon being obtained:
- Cease and Desists
- v1.2.0 BETA
As the Status Effect system is a brand new addition, the following have been re-implemented or introduced to utilize it
- Cease and Desist
- v1.1.0.2 BETA
Switched around the positions of the Fire, Sue, Pass, and SOS buttons in battle.
Fixed an inconsistency with Bumpy’s “using C&D’s” dialogue.
- v1.1.0.1 BETA
C&D’s now cost a quarter of the Cog’s level to use, rounded up. For example, suing a level 12 Cog will cost 3 C&D’s.
Extra C&D’s awarded are now +2 per bonus as opposed to +1.
- v1.1.0 BETA
Defeating the CLO now rewards toons with Cease and Desists (C&Ds) as opposed to summons!
When using a Cease and Desist, it will take half the cog’s level in cost to sue them.
- For example, suing a level 10 cog would cost 5 C&Ds.
When a cog is sued, they will be unable to attack until they are destroyed!
If you do not damage a sued cog for five rounds, then your C&D will become invalid and the Cog will begin to attack again.
Summons that were earned previously will be kept, however, no new summons can be earned.
Minibosses that could not be fired previously also cannot be sued via C&Ds
