Witness Stand-In
The Witness Stand-In, otherwise known as Atticus Wing, was the temporary Lawbot Department Boss after the Chief Justice resigned during his annual review with The Chairman.
He has gained some noticeable attention across Suit companies as the first Cog to be pronounced dead (unable to be manufactured after defeat), after being shot by Elvis from a cannon during The Last Stand at the end of Break the Law.
The WSI Battle
The battle ran exactly the same as the Chief Justice battle with normal tiers remaining from the original battle. The only major difference was that the Witness Stand-In's jump attack during the battle did no damage and did not knock down any Toons. Others include various text changes as Break the Law entered different phases.
The ARG WSI Battle
The Witness Stand-In was once available to be fought directly at the final days of Break The Law Phase 3. It was also the final part of the Pink Slip ARG that coincided with this phase. To activate the ARG battle, players would need to board the Courthouse elevator with 4 or less Toons, defeat the first Cog round, then fill all 12 seats with Toon jurors. After challenging the Toons, the battle would begin. It functioned like any Manager Boss, a Cog with a unique health pool and specialized cheats to put them in the Cogs' favor.

Cheats
The Witness Stand-In summons 3 Lawbot Cogs varying from levels 12-20, depending on the previous fight's tier. There was a 20% chance this would include Executive Cogs. This cheat will occur at the end of odd-numbered rounds, starting on round 1. This cheat can only trigger if no other Cogs are alive and his Cease & Desist cheat isn't eligible for use. Using this cheat will prevent the Witness Stand-In from attacking the turn he uses it.
Cease & Desist will activate if any of the Cogs summoned from Jury Notice are left alive. This cheat will activate at the end of odd-numbered rounds and be in effect only for the following round. Cogs must be defeated during even-numbered rounds to prevent this cheat, defeating them on an odd-numbered round will still allow the Witness Stand-In to activate it. Cease & Desist has a chance to fail on consecutive uses, causing him to attack that turn instead. Using this Cheat will prevent the Witness Stand-In from attacking the turn he uses it.
The Witness Stand-In prevents Toons from attacking the following round. Gags, SOS Cards, Doodles, and Unites will miss/be ineffective during this round and any debuffs (Lured, Soaked, Cogs Miss) will be cleansed from all Cogs. Exceptions to this include:
- Toon-Up Gags and SOS Cards
- Trap Gags and SOS Cards (Lure cannot activate them during this round)
- Using Cogs Miss the round Cease & Desist is in effect
- Unite restriction goes into/out of effect during the active battle round (i.e. during battle animations), not while picking Gags. Due to this, Toons will be unable to use unites during the active battle round when the Witness Stand-In activates this cheat and while picking Gags the following round. Once the next battle round is active (when Cease & Desist is in effect), Toons can use Unites again.
- Note: Doodles will still miss, though their animation will play as if it hit.
Rewards
After slowly whittling down the Witness Stand-In's HP to 0, he would mutter his revenge before flying away from the battle.
Once the battle is rid of the remaining Cog minions and is completely over, the Toons would get a multitude of rewards.
The following rewards are obtained no matter how many times that the Toons defeat the Witness Stand-in:
- A Cog Disguise promotion.
A massive amount of Department Experience.
- The usual amount of Summons.
- A free Raffle Ticket,
- A free use of a Summons Booster.
However, for the first time the Witness Stand-in is defeated, Toons are also granted the following unique rewards:
- The seventh Pink Slip Piece Collectible.
- A free Pink Slip if the other six pieces had been gathered up before hand.
- The "Artificial Progeny" Background
- The "Atticus' Desk" Nameplate.
- The Witness Stand-In hat.
