High Roller
The High Roller is a Cashbot Regional Manager who made his debut in the MAYpril Toons 2023 event. His first appearance was on the cogs.ink Employee Panel with a corresponding blog post that details into an ARG. He can only be seen during the April Toons events as the staple event boss locationed in The Musical Master of Melody on Tenor Terrace in Mezzo Melodyland. Toons can speak to the Low Ballers located in every Playground to be taken there directly.

Overview
The Major Player enters the stage and introduces a special guest, the Duck Shuffler, to the audience of Managers and some other specific Cogs. The Toons enter the arena from the side of a wall, with the Major Player keeping his word about meeting them again (a nod to his fight). The two Managers do a little dance before fusing their bodies into the High Roller. The Toons step onto the stage and the fight begins.
This fight has 3 phases in total. In the first phase, the High Roller prepares a minigame for the Toons, and they must complete its conditions to avoid losing Laff. Afterwards, there is a commercial break for 2 rounds. During this break, Toons will fight groups of Cogs. Defeating the Cogs will deal damage to the High Roller.
After reducing the High Roller's HP to 1, he will spin the wheel once more. This time, instead of a minigame, the wheel lands on a very tiny "Uh Oh" wedge with a sad Toon's face on it. The High Roller summons 3 25.exe Hollywoods and forces you to fight them AND their backup dancers as he sinks into the floor. Mr. Hollywoods will continue to flood the stage for 4 rounds total. Each Mr. Hollywood defeated will grant a permanent increase to your damage in the next phase.
The last phase is the High Roller's magnum opus. He dons a fresh coat of black paint on his suit and strikes multiple poses, each one leaving a silhouette made of light in its place. The four silhouettes become animated and the final battle begins. The High Roller has a monstrous 77,777 health points, but the Toons are stronger than ever, boasting 999 laff and dealing over 15x damage! Toons must first dispose of his dastardly dopplegangers before attacking the High Roller directly. Once he is eventually defeated, the High Roller will congratulate the Toons and pose for the camera with them as the credits roll. Near the end, he questions the source of a random whistling noise, which just so happens to be a Toontanic about to fall on his head. A perfectly timed photo is taken as more credits roll, featuring the surviving Toons, and the fight comes to an end.

Cheats
General Information |
- Toons have all Gag Tracks unlocked & Prestiged for this battle.
- There is no Gag/Gag pouch limit.
- Toons access Gags in battle using a currency called pips.
- Toons have access to dice: a feature that grants them specific bonuses each round and costs pips to use.
- Toons' Laff starts at 15 and increases throughout the battle.
- The battle timer lasts 60 seconds (this is the time given to pick your Gags).
There is no limit to the number of Gags available in this fight. Instead, Toons access their Gags using a currency called Pips:
- The pip cost for a Gag is equivalent to the Gag's level (e.g. a level 8 Gag costs 8 pips to use).
- Toons gain pips at the end of every round.
- Toons start with 7 pips at the beginning of this battle.
- The maximum amount of Pips that can be held is 99.
When entering the fight, Toons are asked to buy a Golden 6-Pip Dice in order to use Gags. If the Dice is not chosen they will have no access to Gags until they do so. After selecting the dice, Toons are given 100% Gag accuracy (note that 0% accuracy scenarios, such as Drop on a lured Cog, will still miss). Additionally, they gain access to special dice to further buff their Gags at the cost of Pips. Each number is a different buff. These dice effects are:
1-Pip Dice - Reroll your current Dice menu.
2-Pip Dice - Grants the user a 1 round of damage reduction, with the damage reduction value chosen randomly between 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%. Using it again will reroll the reduction value, but will not increase the duration.
3-Pip Dice - Reduce Pip and Gag costs by 2 Pips for 1 turn. Multiple uses of this die will increase the effect's duration by one round per use.
4-Pip Dice - Gives all Toons a 15% Gag effectiveness buff for 1 turn. Power stacks additively (+15% each use), but cannot stack duration. This buff also increases Toon-Up Gags' heal.
5-Pip Dice - Grants the user and another Toon a random IOU boost. Once used, this face will go on a 2-round cooldown.
6-Pip Dice - Heals all Toons for 30% Laff, akin to a Unite. Once used, this face will go on a 3-round cooldown.
Phase 1
The High Roller cannot be damaged directly by Toons after the first round. Toons must destroy Cogs during the High Roller's Commercial Break period to damage him. A minigame will begin after round 1 (see Game Time), and after every 2 rounds (Commercial Break period) following that.
Toons start at 15 Laff cap, which increases at the end of each round based on their performance, up to 150 Laff. The amount of Laff earned varies:
- +3 Laff for destroying at least one Cog in the round
- +15 Laff for winning a minigame
- +7 Laff for failing a minigame
Toons will have their max Laff set to 150 once the High Roller defeated in phase 1, if they haven't reached it already.
The High Roller initiates a minigame after the first round and after every Commercial Break. Minigames will be one of the following: Puzzle, Shuffle, or Trivia. The same minigame will not chosen twice in a row. The difficulty of the minigames increase as the phase progresses.
- Puzzle - Figure out how to defeat the Cog(s) before the end of the turn while using a required Gag in the process. Levels increase as the phase progresses. Significantly weaker Cogs are present when soloing. Landing on this option rewards +8 Pips.
- Shuffle - 4 Flunkies spawn, and one of them will speak. All four will then be shuffled around under cups. Toons have to find the speaking Flunky after the shuffle and throw a Gag at them. Only Throw and Drop Gags can be used. Cups shuffle faster as the phase progresses. Landing on this option rewards +2 Pips.
- Trivia - Answer a piece of Trivia by attacking the Cog with the correct answer as their nametag. Throw, Drop, Sound, and Squirt can be used during this minigame. Throw and Drop are for single answers, Squirt is for 2-3 answers (using its splash to hit 1-2 adjacent Cogs), and Sound is for 4 answers. If there is a question with no answer, the player must pass. Landing on this options rewards +2 Pips. See Trivia Answers for all answers.
Upon successfully completing a minigame, Toons will be rewarded with +10 Pips. If you lose a minigame you will only earn +6 Pips, decreasing to +5 if you continue to lose.
To keep the game fair, the High Roller disables all Toons' buffs and dice effects during Game Time. This will not decrease the buffs' durations or have any effect during the minigame.
This cheat acts as a punishment for each Toon that fail Game Time, damaging them. Punishments are dealt separately to each individual Toon. Toons are damaged for 20% of their max Laff (+10% per subsequent fail). This damage value can reach 100% of the Toon's max Laff. Do note that if Squirt or Sound is used to hit a correct and incorrect Cog at the same time, the Toon will still be applied with the punishment.
After a minigame ends, the High Roller will go on break for the next 2 rounds. Toons are rewarded +2 Pips before the battle begins. Cogs will fill the battle at the beginning of each turn during Commercial Break. These Cogs can be any Standard or Specialist Cog, have a chance to be an Executive, and will range from levels 1-31*. This can break the level cap for lower tiered Cogs. Destroying these Cogs deals damage to the High Roller based on the level of the Cog destroyed:
- Standard Cog destroyed: level x5 dealt as damage to the High Roller
- Executive Cog destroyed: level x9 dealt as damage to the High Roller
The Cogs can reach higher levels as the High Roller dwindles in HP. At the end of Commercial Break, any Cogs left are disintegrated (not damaging the High Roller) and the High Roller starts another minigame (see Game Time).
Phase 2
Phase 2 begins once the High Roller reaches 1 HP. Toons will not fight the High Roller in phase 2, but rather waves of Mr. Hollywoods. Phase 2 lasts 4 rounds.
The High Roller summons 3 Level 25.exe Mr. Hollywoods at the start of phase 2. The Hollywood Stars' health range from ~300 HP to ~900 HP, paired with a growing damage boost that increases by +5 damage every round. They also have a hidden -10 damage debuff.
More Mr. Hollywood Stars will join at the end of every round for 4 rounds, filling the Cog capacity. The Cog capacity increases as the rounds progress. The following is the number of Mr. Hollywoods you'll encounter each round:
- Round 1: 3 Mr. Hollywoods
- Rounds 2-3: 4 Mr. Hollywood limit
- Round 4: 5 Mr. Hollywood limit
Toons start with 15 Pips and earn +8 Pips at the end of each round. Each defeat counts towards a damage boost for Toons in phase 3 (See Raising the Ante).
Phase 3
Toons are given a 999 Laff cap and are healed for +849 Laff during the transition to Phase 3. Toons are also be given a damage boost based on the amount of Mr. Hollywoods destroyed in phase 2. Minimum of 15x damage boost.
- The damage formula is
Gag damage * (15 + 0.12% of defeated Hollywood's HP)
. There is no maximum cap.
The High Roller has a Lure Resistance of 1 round.
During Phase 3, Toons earn +8 Pips at the end of each round. This amount can be further increased or decreased per round under certain circumstances.
This cheat triggers only on Toons who have more than 21 Pips. This reduces their Pips to 21 and drops dice on their heads, damaging them for a value equal to the number of Pips lost x15. This ability triggers before the Toons get to attack in a turn. For Bust to completely one shot a Toon at full health (and without any damage reduction), they would need to have 88 pips. A Toon having 99 Pips can take upwards of 1170 damage.
The High Roller summons 4 different colored Silhouettes. These Silhouettes are virtual copies of the High Roller that come in 8 different colors with a corresponding cheat. Only one Silhouette can attack per turn. The High Roller will summon them at the beginning of Phase 3 and every round after he's left with no Silhouettes, leaving one full round where he's alone.
- Silhouettes are Level 25.mgrs that start with 12,000 HP. Their health is reduced by 3,000 HP every time the High Roller summons a new set, with a minimum of 3,000 HP. Defeating a Silhouette rewards all Toons with +4 Pips at the end of the round, increasing by +2 Pips with every set of Silhouettes defeated. Each Silhouette has the Status Effect Refraction Barrier, a passive damage resistance of -222 damage, and an additional Status Effect of one of the following, unique to the color of the Silhouette:
C45HB4CK: Attacks Toons affected by Toon-Up (not including self-heal), damaging them for 50% the Gag's base healing.
TR4P-C4RD: Retaliates for 100 damage if Trap is placed or if unlured when Cogs attack. Retaliation damage is increased by +100 per additional Trap placed. This attack damages both Toons and Cogs.
GR33NL1GHT3R:
Immune to Lure, gives other Cogs the Virtualized buff which grants
-2 turns of Lure, and makes one random Silhouette
completely lure immune each turn.
F4C3 V4LU3: Prevents all combo damage towards any Cog while alive. Does not prevent Lure's knockback damage.
SPL45HB4CK: If Squirt is used (regardless if this Silhouette was hit by it or not), the user will be hit for 5x the Squirt Gag's base damage (this does not include any buffs such as Raising the Ante, IOUs, 4-Pip Dice, etc.), meaning the maximum amount it can deal is 600 damage. Additionally, the Toon's who used Squirt will receive the
Soaked? status effect, imposing a 50% damage reduction on Squirt Gags for 3 turns. It will also grant any Soaked Cogs 50% Damage Resistance.
F1ZZL3: Makes Zap jumps deal only 1 damage.
S1NG1N' BLU35: Grants everyone 500 turns of
Winded while alive. If all 500 rounds have passed, the status effect goes away for 1 round then returns to 500 by the next round.
J0K3R: Has a chance to either promote or destroy the level of a Toon's Gag, and is more likely to trigger on Drop Gags. Promoted Level 8 Gags do 2x damage. The Pip cost will depend on the original Gag that the Toon has chosen (e.g., picking a Birthday Cake that promotes to a Wedding Cake will deduct 7 Pips instead of the usual 8).
The High Roller is invincible during the round when he summons Silhouettes, being unaffected by attacks and debuffs. He will drop this ability the following round, gaining a 95% damage resistance which decreases by 5% for every Silhouette destroyed. The High Roller will have no damage resistance once all Silhouettes on the field are destroyed. This repeats every time he uses Trick of the Light.
The High Roller uses two attacks per round. His Dice Roulette cheat is counted towards this two-attack limit. However, Bust and Ace in the Hole are not, and can both be used in addition to his two attacks in a round.
On the TV screen, two Dice labeled "Damage" and "Targets" will be shown. The face the dice land on are rolled separately and determines the damage dealt and Toons/Cogs affected. This cheat counts as one of High Roller's two attacks per round.
Pips | Left Die (Damage) | Right Die (Target) |
---|---|---|
1 Pip | 30 Damage | 1 Toon |
2 Pips | 60 Damage | 2 Toons |
3 Pips | 120 Damage | 3 Toons |
4 Pips | 180 Damage | 4 Toons |
5 Pips | 240 Damage | Nobody |
6 Pips | 300 Damage | All Cogs |
On the turn after the High Roller reaches 2/3 of his health (51,851 HP), he will slam the Toons with a giant card, dealing 222 damage and applying a 20% damage vulnerability to Toons for the rest of the fight.

Version History
- v1.11.4 BETA
April Toons' Month is now over. Thanks for playing and see you next year!
The High Roller is removed along with the other April Toons content.
- v1.11.3 BETA
Fixed an incorrect answer for the trivia question "Which Cog is the tallest?".
The correct answer should now be "Plutocrat" instead of "Short Change".
Loot info for High Roller and Nuclear Cogs should now properly fit on the screen.
- v1.11.2 BETA
Adjusted an answer in the "Who does the Major Player fancy?" trivia question.
One of the answers, "Duck Shuffler", has been replaced by "This Flunky". The question and its correct answers were unchanged.
Updated the "Bust" ability cutscene:
The caption text for the cutscene has been changed so it better tells the player how the cheat works.
The flavor dialogue has been taken out of the caption text and is now spoken by High Roller in a dialogue bubble. That dialogue bubble also has two other possible lines, chosen randomly.
Adjusted the rewards given out in High Roller:
- Cogs in High Roller instances no longer give out EXP. (The High Roller himself continues to give out Toon EXP via Sweeteners.)
Fixed an issue in High Roller where the text on the green screen was not correctly vertically center-aligned.
Fixed a longstanding issue with the Toon EXP bar not showing up after defeating Taskline Managers, Kudos Managers, and High Roller.
- v1.11.1 BETA
Emotions and Stickers should no longer be permanently disabled after a High Roller battle.
- v1.11.0 BETA
High Roller returns from his slumber and is ready to host his game show once again!
New High Roller drops have arrived!
- Game Show nameplate: Obtained at 11 defeats.
- Game Show profile background: Obtained at 13 defeats.
- If your Toon already had enough High Roller defeats to earn these new drops, you will need to defeat High Roller one more time to obtain them.
Reduced the volume of the music during Phase 3 of the battle.
Fixed a notorious bug in High Roller where if any Cog is alive on the last turn of Phase 2, High Roller will not gain his damage resistance on turns past the first in Phase 3.
- Over time, we realized that even though the High Roller battle was marketed to appeal to all levels of players, mechanics-wise, High Roller is not actually a very new player friendly battle. From this year on, we're changing the description of the battle to better reflect our new intention of the battle.
Approaching the High Roller Sigil with a level 19 or below Toon will now warn the player that the battle is recommended for Toons who have a grasp on the basics of Corporate Clash's battle system.
- After confirming the message, the player can proceed with the battle as normal.
To keep High Roller experiences less volatile, the golden 6-Pip die now grants the user 100% accuracy for the entire battle.
2-Pip die now gives the user a 1-round damage reduction buff, with the damage reduction value chosen randomly between 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%. Using this die again in the same round will reroll the damage reduction value and does not increase the duration of the effect.
- Phase 1:
Several trivia questions have been changed, others have been removed, and new questions have also been added. Overall, there are now less trivia questions about obscure knowledge.
- Phase 2:
Phase 2 duration: 5 rounds -> 4 rounds
- Phase 3:
High Roller's Phase 3 HP: 44,444 -> 77,777
Silhouette Base HP: 9,000 -> 12,000
Silhouette HP reduction in subsequent sets: 2,000 -> 3,000
Minimum Silhouette HP: 3,000
- Minimum Siloheutte HP decreased from 4,000 to 3,000.
Raise the Ante damage multiplier: 10x + 0.04% defeated Mr. Hollywoods' health -> 15x + 0.12% defeated Mr. Hollywoods' health
- Pip farming has been an incredibly contentious strategy for as long as High Roller has graced us with his presence. We're introducing a new mechanic to discourage the stalling aspect of the strategy, but leaving the door open for another method of amassing Pips that may be equally as easy to understand while being more engaging.
In Phase 3 only, every round, High Roller can use a new ability called 'Bust' on Toons with over 21 Pips. This reduces their Pips to 21 and deals damage equal to 15 times the number of Pips lost. This ability happens after all players have locked in their choices.
- v1.8.4 BETA
The April Toons' event is now over. Thanks for playing!
The High Roller is removed along with the other April Toons content.
- v1.8.2 BETA
Fixed a crash in High Roller that could occur during phase transitions.
- v1.8.1 BETA
Fixed several High Roller crashes.
- v1.8.0 BETA
The High Roller is back and is ready to roll!

Made various animation and balance tweaks intended to speed up the first phase of the fight.
Regular Cog level damage dealt to the High Roller increased from 4x to 5x.
Executive Cog level damage dealt to the High Roller increased from 7x to 9x.
Sped up the animation for the Game Over cheat; the High Roller will teleport to his spot rather than walk to it after snapping.
Completely reworked the second phase! The damage bonus in the third phase is dependent on the Toons' performance during the second phase.
The phase last 5 rounds, and requires you to defeat as many Mr. Hollywoods as you can. This affects the damage boost in the third phase.
In the third phase, if Toons have 15 pips or more, the pip gain is reduced to 4. If Toons have 30 pips or more, the pip gain is reduced to 2.
In the third phase, defeating a silhouette will reward the toons with 4 pips (increased by +2 for every set of silhouettes defeated).
[undocumented] The High Roller's min-max damage is now 150-225 instead of 150-333.
Ace in the Hole deals 222 damage instead of 333.
[undocumented] Ace in the Hole gives a 20% damage vulnerability instead of 15%.
Condition is triggered on the same round when the health milestone is met, and not the round after.
No longer counts as credit towards the High Roller's two attacks in a round.

The High Roller's Prodigal Suit was added.
Reduced the volume of the sigils in the Major Player's lobby.
Other small, spoiler-free tweaks.

- Toons who were affected by this issue should have their Gag pouch size returned to normal when they next log in.
- v1.3.2.1 BETA
Various visual & mechanical tweaks have been made to a few attacks found in the fight.
When additional Silhouettes are spawned during Phase 3, their HP will be reduced by 2,000 for a minimum of 4,000 HP.
The HP gate for the High Roller's Ace in the Hole cheat was adjusted.
HP Gate: 50% HP -> ~66% HP
Fixed a rare disconnect with one of the attacks found in the fight.

Trivia
General
- A high roller is the name of a person who gambles or spends a very large amount of money.
- On the cogs.ink website, the High Roller's username is
_______
(seven spaces) and his password isB!NGO_H3R0_UNT0LD
.- You must also click on the "I am a:" tab and label him as a Contractor, although nothing in-game indicates he is one.
- The High Roller's profile has an entirely different layout and theme compared to others.
- It was inspired by websites created in the 90's/early 2000's.
- The Technical Team limited themselves to using HTML 4.0 and CSS2 which are both from 1998 to add to the effect.
- All images were filtered to use "web safe" colors only which was an important thing to consider for older websites.
- When viewing the employee list on Jennifer's cogs.ink account, the High Roller's honorific will change every time you reload the page. It can choose from the following honorifics: Mr., Ms., Mrs., Ms./Mrs., Mx., Mx./Mr./Ms., Don, It, and Your Quackjesty.
- Like the Duck Shuffler, the High Roller speaks with a lisp to that of Looney Tunes' Daffy Duck. Although every "s" sound he makes is instead replaced with "ff".
- This change is not always consistent, as seen on his blog via his profile and during Trivia segments. There are some very rare instances where a "th" sound is replaced with "ff".
- The High Roller has the highest amount of health and the highest Level out of any Cog to date, beating previous records by miles.
- When the Duck Shuffler and the Major Player perform their fusion dance, the High Roller will appear creating the iconic pose of Sailor Moon completing her transformation into a magical girl.
- All the Cogs in this fight have white gloves, similar to how they do in the Major Player's fight.
- The "Uh Oh" slice of the wheel is not visible before Phase 2. After Phase 2 it becomes visible and stays on the wheel.
- High Roller is the first and only Cog in the game to have a voice clip in coherent English.
- All Cogs in this fight, including the Silhouettes and Flunkies from minigames, are counted towards defeated Cogs for ToonTasks. They do not drop EXP, meaning the only way to earn EXP from this fight is through the sweetener.
- The Silhouettes do not drop Jellybeans.
Backstage
- According to the Backstage Corporate Clash Blog of the High Roller:
- The High Roller was intended to be an miniboss that could properly return each year without much re-coding.
- There were some jokes in regards the Major Player during Clash Crew meetings, when the boss was originally supposed to expand on just the Duck Shuffler and his casino themes.
- The fight was originally going to have level 6 Gag Content Sync.
- Pips were originally called chips, from the casino theme.
- There was a minigame idea for Phase 1 that allowed the High Roller to throw cards at you (similar to 52-card pickup).
- The High Roller was intended to be only two phases long.
- Phase 3 was inspired by an image of the Mayor Player with several silhouettes drawing behind him.
- Phase 3 was built around its battle theme, in an effort make it match to its chaotic energy.
- The High Roller's was planned to be able to "roll" and use other Managers abilities. This was scrapped due to time constraints and was used for Overclocked Face the Family.
- The Light Blue Silhouette was intended to only affect Drop, going up or down one Gag level.
- "Cup Move" was a planned attack where the High Roller placed cups over the Toons and shuffled them around. Scrapped due to the technical work needed.
