Trap

Jump to navigation Jump to search

Trap is the second Gag used by Toons in a battle. This Gag is a Power Gag that deals massive single target damage. Only one Trap can be placed on a Cog at a time. If an additional Trap is placed on an already Trapped Cog the highest damage Trap will stay and the lower will disappear. If they are of the same damage, the rightmost Toon's Trap will remain if they are placed at the same time. Trap Gags have perfect accuracy, however they require Lure to be used after placing the Gag in order to affect Cogs. Trap Gags increase the accuracy of Lure regardless of whether the Gag is meant for a single Cog or multiple Cogs. If the Cog survives being Trapped, the Dazed effect is applied to the Cog, which lowers Cog Defense by 10% for 2 rounds.

Trap Gags also have a bonus of 30% damage to Executive (but not Manager) Cogs, regardless of Prestige.

Prestige

Toons with Trap can choose to allot an additional Training Point to Prestige this Gag Track. Prestige Trap benefits from a 20% increase in damage to any Cog. This is multiplied by the 30% provided by Executive Cogs, making Executive Cogs take a total of 56% extra damage. Prestige Trap allows even more opportunities to save powerful Trap Gags and have weaker ones take its place.

Advantages of Trap

  • The Trap Gag Track is the most powerful single hitting Track in the game.
  • Working together with Toons that have Lure can help with setting a Trap and using a Lure Gag in the same round.
  • Trap has perfect accuracy as long as the Lure works.
  • Luring a Trapped Cog increases the accuracy of Lure.
  • Luring a Cog into a Trap counts as two stuns.
  • Traps are the first set of Power Gags to be used in battle, so a successful Lure hit can quickly defeat a Cog (depends on Gag and Cog level).
  • The Dazed effect pairs well with Drop Gags, as it triggers the Prestige effect and allows Drop to hit more often, especially with its individual rolls for hitting a Cog.

Disadvantages of Trap

  • When working alone, Toons must first set the Trap before Luring the Cog. This means Toons must risk taking damage from Cogs before they can attempt to Lure the Cogs into the Trap.
  • You only receive Trap Gag points if you successfully Lure the Cog to activate the Trap.
  • Trap Gags cannot be placed when Cogs are already Lured.
  • Trap Gags are the only Gags that have a disadvantage against Manager Bosses, as they ignore the 30% Executive damage boost. Toons will have to make Trap rely on other Gags if they want to destroy the Manager, especially if the extra damage boost would have destroyed them.

Trivia

  • There used to be a low chance that a voiceline of Lazy Town's Robbie Rotten would play when Banana Peels were used.
    • It has since been removed at an unknown point of time.
  • Although Trap can no longer indicate a hit or miss by its orientation, it can still be indicated whether or not the Cog's idle animation restarts. If it restarts upon a Lure Gag being used, the Trap will hit.
  • Trap, along with Sound and Drop, have alternate death animations for Cogs that are destroyed by certain Gags.
    • Quicksand and Trapdoor simply don't return the Cog to battle instead of dropping it from the sky.
    • Wrecking Ball launches Cog away with their shoes (or feet if it is a Skelecog) flying off them and staying behind, only to shrink away a few seconds later.
    • TNT outright destroys the Cog apart from the feet, which run away.
      • The Cogs' feet running away is an unused animation taken from Toontown Online, where its original purpose was to be the aftermath of a Cog exploding.
  • Should a Cog move from its position in battle, the Trap Gag will follow them.
    • This does not occur if the Cog is being used in a cutscene or in specific cheats. This can be easily seen in a few of the Regional Manager fights.
