Cheats
The Gatekeeper has a Lure Resistance of 1 round.
The Gatekeeper takes 75% less damage until a Cog with
Core Competency is destroyed, in which case it will be
inactive for one round.
All Grunt Cogs that join have a +100 HP buff, can only be
Lured for 2 rounds, and have a
+3 damage bonus, gaining an additional +3 damage per round. Destroying a Grunt Cog with this status effect will steal their damage buff, granting
2x the additional damage they've amassed to all Toon's Gags for one turn. Additionally, this will disable the Gatekeeper's
Front Line for one turn. Defeating multiple Grunt Cogs in one turn will grant the total amount of damage to all Toons, but will not increase the amount of rounds the pierce damage lasts.
The damage boost will progress indefinitely until the Cog is destroyed, regardless if the Gatekeeper is in battle or not.
At the end of every round, if there are Lured Cogs, the Gatekeeper will unlure one and make them attack.

Track | "Should I bring this Gag to this fight?" | "Should I Prestige it?" | "How many Toons should bring it?" |
![]() Toon-Up |
Essential for allowing Toons to survive through attacks from the Gatekeeper and other Cogs. This is especially important to have while letting the Cogs build up a bigger damage boost to steal.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 3/3 Stars |
A great Prestige for allowing Toons to further survive through attacks from the Gatekeeper and other Cogs. Additionally, the extra round of Cheer can be given to other Toons on the turn they clear the Cogs to give the Gags used directly against the Gatekeeper increased accuracy.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 3/3 Stars |
2-4 Toons |
![]() Trap |
Can be used to weaken or destroy Core Competency Cogs, but other Gags are typically more useful.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 1/3 Stars |
You will be destroying Cogs over multiple turns anyway, so it is needless to have this Prestige.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 0/3 Stars |
0-4 Toons |
![]() Lure |
Essential for preventing attacks from Cogs while waiting for the right time to clear them. Also allows for the highest direct damage to the Gatekeeper. Throw Gags can double dip on the damage boosts, as they also gain the total Knockback damage from the damage boosted Lure Gags.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 3/3 Stars |
Great for further boosting direct damage to the Gatekeeper if using Lure + 3 Throw.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 3/3 Stars |
2-4 Toons |
![]() Throw |
Can be used to weaken or destroy Core Competency Cogs, and benefits the most from the damage buff granted upon defeating them when paired with Lure. Throw Gags can double dip on the damage boosts, as they also gain the total Knockback damage from the damage boosted Lure Gags.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 3/3 Stars |
As usual for Manager battles, Throw's Prestige is very useful for this fight, allowing you to deal reliable damage to both the Cogs and the Gatekeeper while having to spend less of other resources on healing.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 3/3 Stars |
3-4 Toons |
![]() Squirt |
Needed for enabling Zap to weaken or destroy Core Competency Cogs, and can also be used on the Gatekeeper to set up an accuracy buff for the turns that Toons attack her directly.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 3/3 Stars |
The increased Splash damage will very rarely, if ever, make it easier to destroy Core Competency Cogs. Zap's Prestige will have much more mileage.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 0/3 Stars |
1-4 Toons |
![]() Zap |
Great for weakening or destroying Core Competency Cogs.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 3/3 Stars |
Could be helpful in further weakening Core Competency Cogs, but is unnecessary if 3 or more Toons have Zap.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 1/3 Stars |
2-4 Toons |
![]() Sound |
Great for finishing off Core Competency Cogs with ease and granting an Encore buff that can be used on top of the other damage buffs when directly attacking the Gatekeeper.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 3/3 Stars |
Great for granting a bigger damage buff that can be used against directly the Gatekeeper.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 3/3 Stars |
3-4 Toons |
![]() Drop |
Can be used to deal good damage to the Gatekeeper directly, but is heavily overshadowed by Lure and Throw in this role due to Throw's ability to double dip on the stolen damage boosts.
![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 2/3 Stars |
Can be good for further dealing damage to the Gatekeeper. However, the Gag in general is overshadowed by Lure and Throw in this fight.

3-4 Toons |
The general strategy for the Gatekeeper battle involves whittling down the Cogs' health while letting them build up a bigger damage boost to be stolen. Then, coordinating the right time to destroy them all at once, momentarily disabling the Damage Resistance from Front Lines, and creating a good opening to attack her directly.
- Squirt + Zap or Lure + Throw are both great ways of wearing down the Cogs' health. These Gags can simply be used again to finish them off when your team feels it's time to attack the Gatekeeper directly. Sound can also be used to gain an additional damage boost to use directly against her.
- The right time to clear the Cogs is entirely up to your team's discretion, but it should be noted that you can reasonably survive 2-4 rounds of letting the Cogs build up their damage boosts, especially if they are kept Lured as much as possible and Toon-Up is used generously.
- Do note, the Gatekeeper can unlure one Cog after each round, so Lure should not be entirely relied on. However, it can still greatly decrease the amount of damage taken as only one Cog is affected.
- On the turn you clear the Cogs, if feasible, it would be helpful to also set up accuracy buffs, such as Soaked or Cheer from Prestige Toon-Up. Critical misses on the turns your team choose to attack the Gatekeeper could cause an extra 2 turns or more to be needed to defeat her.
- The damage boosts from clearing the Core Competency Cogs only last for one turn, so pick your times to strike very wisely.
- While any Gags could benefit well from the damage boosts, Lure + 3 Throw combos benefit the most from them by a landslide. Throw can get the most out of the damage boosts, as the Throw Gags' damage boosts stack with the Lure Gag's boost to its Knockback.
- Placing a Trap on the Gatekeeper and luring it on the turn the Toons are attacking her directly is heavily advised against. This completely wastes the damage boost to the Knockback of the Lure Gag used to activate the Trap.
- It can be safer to let the Core Competency Cogs build up damage if the fight is done on a street with weaker Cogs, such as Noble Nook, due to the highest Cog Level there being 5, or in a district with an invasion of weak Cogs.

Trivia
- A gatekeeper is a person who limits another party's participation in a collective identity or activity, usually due to undue pettiness, resentment, or overprotectiveness.
- The Gatekeeper's real name is a pun of the term "Holy Grail".
- The Gatekeeper's employee ID is a reference to police code 10-107 which refers to a suspicious person.
- On the cogs.ink website, the Gatekeeper's username is
grayelleholly
and her password ishollylooya
.- The password was revealed by using a specific SpeedChat phrase right next to the tunnels of Ye Olde Toontowne. The username was revealed manually by Mac Opsys in the fourth batch of usernames in the 1.3.0 ARG.
- The Gatekeeper previously worked at a Bards and Nobles location for 2 years, a nod to the bookseller company Barnes and Nobles.
- The Gatekeeper is one of the few Cogs who does not wear any form of tie. Her Skelecog even reflects this by not having one entirely.
- The texture for her suit actually showcases a red bowtie that goes unused.
- Cogs with the Core Competency buff will glow red, with the color getting more vibrant the higher their damage increases.
- Core Competency's damage bonus can stack seemingly infinitely.
- The Gatekeeper is the only Cog to not use her department's standard suit pattern. She is missing the Boardbot's herringbone pattern.
- The Gatekeeper's sticker uses the Shields Up sound effect despite none of her cheats using that sound.
