Stenographer

The Stenographer is a Lawbot Manager Boss who was introduced in the v1.2.0 Update. She can be found in the Overclocked C.L.O. boss battle. Her first appearance was in Corporate Clash's 9th comic: Hired Help.

The Stenographer is a member of The Litigation Team. She specializes in being one step ahead of the Toons, often blocking their chances from using certain Gags.

Cheats

The Stenographer has a Lure Resistance of 2 rounds.

The Stenographer will forbid Toons from using a certain level from all Gag Tracks, changing it every single round unless she is left lured, or all Toons are considered to have gone sad during the round. These go up from levels six to eight. Toons who use the forbidden levels (regardless if the Gag hits or not) will be hit with a gavel and will instantly take 50 damage. This cheat will continue to work as long as the Stenographer is in battle (even in the same round as she is defeated). The Stenographer will not ban the same gag level twice in a row, unless she is left lured at the end of a round without the chance to use Court Record: then it is possible for her to ban the same gag level that was already banned, resulting in 3 rounds of the same ban.

Every 3 rounds, the least dangerous Toons will quickly be dealt 25 damage and be given the "Sanctioned" effect. Sanctioned Toons will have 50% less Gag effectiveness for two rounds. This is visualized by beige-colored downward arrows.

The least dangerous Toon is whoever dealt the least non-zero amount of damage to any of the Cogs in the last 3 rounds. Knockback and Combo damage are not factored into damage dealt.

The Court Sanction debuff effect cannot be stacked on a single Toon. Instead, it will refresh the debuff duration. Additionally, the weaker Court Sanction debuff will be replaced by the stronger variation if used (referring to the 25% less Gag effectiveness variant in her pairing with Case Manager).

At the end of Round 2, the Stenographer will use a Synergy-like group attack that deals 24 damage. She will continue to use this cheat every 3 rounds after, adding 4 more damage per use. It will reach its maximum output at 255 damage.

• Calculating Costs - On the round before any Court Costs can activate, the Stenographer will announce how much damage that the cheat will do. This damage calculation will only factor in the damage boost from Desperation (seen below). If queued, this cheat will not show up but Court Costs will still activate the following round.

The Stenographer's cheats will be queued if she is Lured during the turn. A queued cheat will wait to be used on the turn the Stenographer unlures in addition to any other cheats she would use on that turn. Additionally, her Court Sanction cheat works differently when queued:

• Queued Court Sanction: When queued, this cheat will only track damage dealt by each Toon the turn this cheat is used. It will not track damage dealt during the turn that the Stenographer was Lured. This queued version does not affect the normal turn cycle of Court Sanction.

This cheat will trigger once the Stenographer is the last Manager standing on her side. It will increase the Stenographer's Lure Resistance by 1 round and make her deal 40% more damage.

Manager Synergy Cheats

The Litigation Team has unique benefits where different pairing of managers can completely alter how some cheats and its bonuses function.

Stenographer Synergy Cheats:

When paired with the Litigator:

• The Stenographer's Court Sanction cheat reduces Toon's Gag effectiveness by 75% from its normal 50% effectiveness reduction.
• The Litigator's Snap cheat makes Toons 40% more vulnerable. This does not apply to the Snap cheat that is triggered when he is soaked.

When paired with the Case Manager:

• The Stenographer will use Court Sanction on Toons when their Legal Bindings expire, dealing 25 damage and reducing Gag effectiveness by 25%.
• When the Stenographer uses her Court Sanction on the Least Dangerous Toon (not to be confused with Unbound Sanctions), the Case Manager will throw a pair of Legal Bindings at a random Toon.

When paired with the Scapegoat:

• While the Scapegoat is Enraged, the Stenographer will ban two Gag levels instead of one. Note that the manager on the right processes their cheats first, so if the Stenographer is to the right of the Scapegoat, she will only ban one gag level on the same turn that he Enrages, but will ban two gag levels on the turn that he Shields Up.

  • This only occurred if the banned Gag level corresponded with the "level" of the doodle trick. Rollover would cause Court Records if the cheat banned level 5 Gags, for example.

• Dissatisfied with her losses against the Toons, the C.L.O. has taken up an offer from the Chairman to get back at them. In the new "Overclocked" version of her battle, the C.L.O. will be pulling out all the stops to create the greatest challenge that Toons have yet seen!

Undocumented Changes

• The Stenographer's Court Sanctions did 26 and 13 damage, which was changed to 22 and 11.
• The Stenographer's Gumball Sweetener was increased from 10 -> 15

Trivia

• A stenographer is someone who types down the words of someone speaking in a jury.
  • The Stenographer's design marks this definition with her head being a whole stenograph keyboard.
• The Stenographer has an unmentioned married partner. Some of her co-workers originally mentioned her by "Ms." before this was fixed.
• The Stenographer is the first Cog to use the feminine buff Cog suit.
• When the Stenographer is paired with the Litigator, she will talk to the rest of the team about the number of Toons in an analysis. She will rate their threat level from highest to lowest depending on the amount present.
• The Stenographer is capable of doing the most damage out of any Litigation Team member in one attack, though she needs time in order to do so.
  • In order for Court Costs to one shot any Toon, it will require 32 uses of this cheat before it hits 152 laff (2 shy of the current 150 Laff limit), which devolves to 116 rounds total.
• The Stenographer was the only Litigation Member to not have a group attack, until the 1.2.1 update which introduced the Court Fees cheat.
• According to a Tweet posted on the Corporate Clash Twitter, the Stenographer and the Case Manager ran an insurance company called "A Brief Case of Insurance Company".
  • This insurance company was one of the seventeen companies that crumbled with the death of the Witness Stand-In.
• The Stenographer can use the -25% Gag effectiveness version of Court Sanction even in the absence of the Case Manager. As long as she joins after the defeat of the Case Manager and there are Legally Bound Toons, the Stenographer can use the weaker variant of Court Sanction when they get off of the Legal Bindings. The Gag effectiveness reduction will not increase even if she is paired with the Litigator.
