Find the Family (shortened as F.T.F.) is an alternate game mode for the Sellbot Factory that is part of April Toons events. It replaced Find the Foreman from both April Toons 2020 and April Toons 2022. This gamemode can be accessed by entering the Factory Exterior of Sellbot Headquarters and locating the two additional doorways available for Find the Family and Overclocked Face the Family.

The Sellbot Factory is entirely the same, having the same amount of Cog battles and equally dangerous platform hazards. The main gimmick of this event is that each Cog set in this Factory is replaced with the Facility Managers of the Sellbot, Cashbot, Lawbot, and Bossbot Departments. Toons are tasked with finding the real "Family" of Managers. This means that the real Factory Foreman, the real Mint Supervisor, the real Head Attorney, and the real Club President are bundled up in one set that is randomly scattered across the Factory in every run. The only way to find the real Family is through a speech bubble notification when entering a Cog battle. The game mode will end when the Family is found and destroyed. The arrangement of each Cog set remain the same each run listed below:

Cog Sets ‎
x--- (Left) -x-- (Mid Left) --x- (Mid Right) ---x (Right)
Lobby Factory Foreman Mint Supervisor Head Attorney Club President
Gear Room Club President Factory Foreman Mint Supervisor Head Attorney
Warehouse Factory Foreman Head Attorney Club President Mint Supervisor
Boiler Room Mint Supervisor Factory Foreman Head Attorney Club President
Duct Room Mint Supervisor Head Attorney Factory Foreman Club President
Pipe Room's right side Factory Foreman Head Attorney Mint Supervisor Club President
Pipe Room's left side Head Attorney Club President Factory Foreman Mint Supervisor
Lava Room Foyer Club President Mint Supervisor Head Attorney Factory Foreman
Oil Room Head Attorney Factory Foreman Mint Supervisor Club President
West Silo Factory Foreman Head Attorney Club President Mint Supervisor
East Silo Factory Foreman Mint Supervisor Head Attorney Club President
Center Silo Control Room Factory Foreman Club President Head Attorney Mint Supervisor

Each Facility Manager has access to their respective cheats that they have in their respective facilities. Defeating this mode will grant all Toons a large amount of their related Merits, with 696 for each set of Cogs defeated and a total of 8,352 for all 12 sets. This gamemode will not grant Manager task credit, but it will count in its Overclocked version. After an F.T.F. win, any Toon with at least one missing Cog Disguise part will have a chance to receive a part from the same Cog Department, even if the disguise of that respective Department is completed. For example, if the reward is a Lawbot Disguise part, a Toon who has yet completed the Lawbot Disguise will receive it, while another Toon who has completed it will not, despite having missing parts from other Departments. The part given is based on which Cog Department the first Cog spoken to in the last fight is.

Overclocked Face the Family

OFTF Family.png

Overclocked Face the Family (shortened as Overclocked F.T.F. or O.F.T.F.) is the harder version of Find the Family and debuted in the Maypril Toons 2023 event. It replaced Overclocked Find the Foreman from April Toons 2022. Toons under 115 Laff or with less than 5 maxed Gag Tracks will receive a warning when making a group, or trying to join a group, that their Laff or Gags are under the recommended level. However, they can still make or join a group if they try again.

The Sellbot Factory has been changed to accommodate the Family. The yellow and orange Goons are replaced with purple Goons that deal 38 damage. The Gear Room has these types of Goons roaming about. This room, the Lava Room Foyer, and the East Silo are completely void of Cog battles. Additionally, the Lava Room Foyer has a giant stomper in the middle that deals 30 damage to any Toon that finds themselves under it. Other obstacles, such as the stompers in the Warehouse, the paint in the Paint Room and the lava in the Lava Room will deal 34 damage. Laff, Gag, and Jellybean barrels are spread throughout the factory. Laff barrels give +30 Laff, Gag barrels restock up to Level 8 Gags, while Jellybean barrels give 400 to 500 Jellybeans. However, the Jellybean barrels in the Lava Room reward +1500 each. The location of the additional barrels are:

  • Lookout: 2 Gag barrels, 1 Toon-Up barrel added
  • Gear Room: Gag barrel added
  • Lava Room Foyer: 2 Gag barrels added
  • Warehouse: 4 Gag barrels added
  • Center Silo: 3 Gag barrels added, 2 Toon-Up barrels
  • East Silo: 3 Gag barrels, 2 Laff barrels, 2 Jellybean barrels added

Toons are once again instructed to find the real family of Facility Managers. However, there can now be multiple of the same type of Facility Manager in a single battle. Each Department Facility Manager will have one of six cheats exclusive to this game mode, making a total of 24 cheats. The cheats applied to each Manager can be seen by looking at the prefix above their name. There is a 15% chance for these Cogs to be "Unstable", granting them 2x health and the ability to change into a random Facility Manager with a different cheat every round.

The real Family in this gamemode are the Nuclear Cogs residing in the Center Silo dubbed "The Nuclear Family." Nuclear Cogs have 8x more HP and deal 2.1375x-2.3625x more damage. They will also change into a different Facility Manager type with a different cheat, similar to an Unstable Cog, at the end of each round. This seemingly one sided fight is not without benefits. Toons fighting the Nuclear Cogs are granted the Prismatic buff, tripling their Laff and damage. It takes three battles minimum before Toons have the chance to engage with the Nuclear Family (starting in the Lobby, then the Warehouse, then the West Silo).

In Overlocked Face the Family, you'll gain Merits for all Departments. Merits vary slightly depending on the level of the Managers, but players can expect to get around 1,100 from each battle, with ~11,000 Merits in total from defeating every set of Managers. Completing the short route gives ~5,500 Merits.

Additionally, this gamemode is a nerfed version of its successor, Highly Unstable Overclocked Face the Family. Both Unstable Cogs and regular Manager Cogs in O.F.T.F. do 20% less damage and have 10% less health than Cogs present in the Highly Unstable version. This means that the Facility Managers will do slightly more/less damage than their F.T.F. counterparts due to the attacks being rounded from H.U.O.F.T.F,. To see the damage values of Managers in O.F.T.F. and H.U.O.F.T.F., see the Unstable Cogs page.

Highly Unstable Overclocked Face the Family

HUOFTF Family.png

Highly Unstable Overclocked Face the Family (shortened as H.U.O.F.T.F.) is labelled as the hardest version of Find the Family and debuted in the Maypril Toons 2023 event. This game mode can only be accessed via the Group Tracker. Players must create a group for Overclocked Face the Family and change the "Instability" option to "Highly Unstable". Attempting to make a group while under 140 Laff will give you a warning, but clicking the button again will ignore this warning.

This game mode functions the same as Overclocked Face the Family, with a few changes:

  • The 10% health reduction and 20% damage reduction debuff of the Cogs found in O.F.T.F. is no longer present.
  • Unstable Cogs have a 25% chance to appear. At least one Unstable Cog is guaranteed per battle.

Merits gained and their total amounts are the same here as they are in O.F.T.F.

Overclocked Face the Family Strategy

General

  • The in-game recommendation for this fight is 115 Laff (140 Laff for HUOFTF) and at least 5 maxed Gag Tracks.
    • While lower Laff is definitely doable, it is highly recommended to have at least this much Laff if not way higher. The Cogs in these fights can do a hefty amount of damage if something goes wrong, leaving players with even 150 Laff at single digits by the end of the round.
    • Having a certain amount of maxed Gags will only assist in making the fight quicker and guarantee one-shot kills for some of the Cogs.
  • Although several Gag barrels are provided, they may not always be the Gags you need. Missing higher level Gags can be detrimental. It is possible to complete this game mode without Rewards, however, it is extremely difficult.
    • Be wary when grabbing barrels; if your inventory is full you will lose out on the Gags you need.
    • Unites are generally the only Reward necessary. They are often used to save each other during fights as well as help heal before starting a new battle.
    • Considering this, being on cooldown, especially with certain Managers like the Sniper Factory Foreman, can cost a run. It is very helpful to announce who is going to hover over a Unite first to avoid multiple Unites being used at the same time.
    • Counterfeits may be useful in the beginning battles to help save Level 8 Gags. Gag barrels can and will be unpredictable, so saving Gags that you have can be important.
    • It is important to wait for the corresponding timer to deplete before entering another fight. The timer will still count down while in battle and will prevent the user from using another Unite until it is done.
  • Before entering a battle, talk with your teammates about the Cogs present and who should be prioritized first.
  • It is easy to forget which Cogs are in the battle and which cheats need to be prioritized. Pay attention and double check others actions.
    • Common mistakes are forgetting each Manager's base cheat (such as the Head Attorney's Objection to Combo damage cheat) in addition to their added cheat. This can be especially stressful during Unstable Face the Family as the Cogs are consistently changing. It is helpful to have a guide nearby stating what each cheat does.
    • Considering this, it is usually recommended to use single-target Lures to avoid healing Club Presidents (if they appear) as well as take advantage of the increased knockback damage.
  • Luring can be extremely helpful when dealing with these Cogs in order to prevent additional damage but many will unlure at the end of the round to use their cheats.
    • All Factory Foremen will ONLY unlure when a Cog is destroyed.
      • The only exception to this is Sniper, who will unlure to use his cheat (if the requirements are met).
    • Controlling, Spongy, Fraudulent Mint Supervisors will NOT unlure. Abacus and Accountant will only unlure if the requirement is failed.
    • Overseer Head Attorney does NOT unlure.
      • Sneaky will unlure at the beginning of his turn, regardless if he is alone or not, preventing any usage out of Lure/Trap (this includes knockback damage if a Cog was lured and transforms into Sneaky).
    • Club Presidents will ONLY unlure if there are other lured Cogs present in the fight. It will NOT use its cheat on itself. The exceptions to this are Chip Fan, Mulligan, and Shivering.
      • Chip Fan unlures to use his cheat if RPM is gained.
      • Mulligan will unlure to use his cheat.
      • Shivering will unlure to use his cheat if hit 3 times.
    • Unstable Cogs do NOT unlure after transforming.

Unstable Cogs

Factory Foreman

  • Sniper can punish trigger happy Unites. You can prioritize safer gameplay to avoid using too many Unites or find a way to get rid of this Cog over others.
  • Red Tape's reward cooldown is very dangerous, so this Cog should be taken care of as soon as possible if you don't want everyone on cooldown.
  • Contractor is annoying if other dangerous Unstable Cogs are at play. As its gimmick only starts at the end of the first round, Toons can still take advantage of attacking another Cog before it sets in.
  • Burning is of little importance with well timed Toon-Up Gags, but this depends on the other Cogs in the fight.
  • Sleepy cannot do much until it wakes up. Consider focusing on other Cogs until then, although you should avoid having this Cog lured when it wakes to prevent it from taking advantage of its Overcharged state.
  • Explosive can essentially remove a Cog from battle and 200 damage can be a decent chunk of health taken away from the surviving Cogs. Pair it with two of this Foreman and it can become an easy fight to clear off. However, you are forced to use a Unite or two to keep up, especially in HUOFTF where 80 damage twice is a guaranteed death for all Toons. The surviving Cogs will also be attacking every round due to their permanent 1 round Lure Resistance, forcing your team to finish the fight as soon as possible.

Mint Supervisor

  • Confused's potential will vary depending on his Content Sync. Remember that he has the base cheat Life Insurance AND Objection. Using Squirt and Zap can very easily nullify both cheats.
  • Controlling is an annoying Cog if not Unstable. If no other Cogs are as dangerous, considering using Squirt, Zap, or Drop.
  • Spongy is yet another annoying Cog if not Unstable. Combos that would instantly destroy more dangerous Cogs will not work with him around. Squirt/Zap can usually be a soft substitute for those combos without triggering their cheats.
  • Fraudulent only becomes dangerous if left alone for far too long. The only time where its self damage outsources Life Insurance is when it does a group attack, as it will do 4x the self damage.
  • Abacus and Accountant are one of the same with different conditions. They will usually determine how the fight will play until they are taken out, which can be dangerous depending on the other Cogs in the battle. Abacus can be easier to ignore than Accountant as it can state for Gag choices to be "below" a certain Gag Level. This means that it can be completely ignored for that round, however, this also means it likely cannot be killed that round.

Head Attorney

  • Chrono can actually be viable with speeding up lengthy fights, but it should not overstay its welcome.
  • Omnipotent and Monolithic are one of the same with different results. Monolithic is slightly more dangerous as it can ban all Toon-Up Gags or whichever Gag is needed for the next Rush Job if it is paired with Laborious.
  • Overseer is EXTREMELY dangerous and should be destroyed with Squirt/Zap ASAP. This Cog will prevent you from doing any meaningful damage until he is gone and may prevent you from satisfying other Cogs requirements.
  • Laborious can require runs to have at least one Toon with a Gag Track that nobody else has. If paired with Monolithic, it does not matter which Cog is necessary to attack first since there is a very small health difference between the two.
  • Sneaky's jump can be negated with Squirt/Zap, but if other Cogs demand a different strategy then it comes down to hoping that Sneaky will not jump into your combo.

Club President

  • Chip Fan should always have Bayou Bellow triggered as it is the least dangerous cheat in his arsenal. This means that you have to hit him 3 times at most whenever attacking him. Lure does not count as RPM build-up.
  • Mulligan should be taken out as soon as possible, since the extra Tee Offs will gradually add up.
  • Shivering should be destroyed in one round to prevent Deep Freeze or left alone until the end. Killing Shivering before the other Cogs can be useful in dealing Shatter damage. However, this is risky as Deep Freeze can be extremely dangerous with multiple Cogs still in the fight if Shivering does not end up dying. Squirt/Drop can help, although do be aware of Squirt applying a 10% damage reduction due to its Frozen debuff. Additionally, Frozen can potentially be advantageous. Depending on the Shivering's location, it is possible to Zap two Cogs (dealing more damage than jumping multiple Cogs) while avoiding Shivering as the jumps cannot travel through Frozen Cogs.
  • Puzzling has a chance to be circumvented. Make sure to avoid directly hitting your intended Cog, and instead hit another for a 33% chance it will hit your intended Cog. This is due to the fact that Confused Toons will never hit their original target.
  • Ancient is usually unimportant, but 25% less damage can break some combos that other Cogs might need in order to be destroyed. It is best to take advantage of situation before the debuff is put on you.
  • High Stakes should be taken out whenever possible. The promoted Gags usually aren't worth it because despite the potential 2x damage, it is risky to receive the Big Loss.

Nuclear Cogs

  • There is not much of a strategy other than to follow the strategies of the Unstable Cog that will cycle at the end of the round.
    • It is best, however, to focus on one Nuclear Cog at a time due to their extremely high HP. Although it is common to use Squirt/Zap to slowly whittle down HP.
    • You may be tasked to target one of the lower HP Cogs at the beginning of the fight. As the health transformation is based off of a percentage, you take a greater chunk of that percentage against lower health Managers (such as Overseer) vs a smaller chunk against high heath Managers (such as Spongy).
      • The speed of this method entirely depends on the other Managers, who may or may not hinder this progress. Plan accordingly and keep an close eye on their cheats.
  • Calling out Unites is especially important during this fight as things can get dangerous if nobody is able to Unite and a terrible set appears.

Loot

Loot is not tied to completing the game mode itself, but rather defeating a certain amount of Unstable Cogs. Because of this, it is not possible to gain any loot from normal Find the Family. Instead, players must play Overclocked Find the Family or the Highly Unstable variant. While each Unstable Cog defeated usually count as 1 defeated, Nuclear Cogs count as 2 defeated, totaling for 8 Unstable Cogs when defeating the Nuclear Family.

A list of all the loot can be found on the Unstable Cogs page.

Music

Note: Find the Family uses dubstep remixes of the Sellbot Factory themes, but veteran players may recognize these as being previously used in Find the Foreman. Overclocked Face the Family uses the following themes below. When in a battle, each Facility Manager has a set of instruments dynamically tied to a base theme (similar to that of the Litigation Team). Should they appear once in battle, they will play on top of this base theme.

Trivia

  • The Club President loses his suit and turns into a Skelecog in Overclocked Face the Family. It keeps the suit in regular Find the Family.
  • Find the Family and Overclocked Face the Family will always start in the Front Entrance Room of the Sellbot Factory.
  • A Nuclear Spongy Mint Supervisor has the highest amount of health out of every given Facility Manager in this game mode, having 10,000 HP.
    • With their 10x maximum Overheal, it is theoretically possible to have this Mint Supervisor reach 100,000 HP.
  • If a 1 Laff Uber engages in the final battle of Overclocked Face The Family, their Laff meter will show a smiling Toon face instead of a frowning one, as they are no longer 1 Laff with the Prismatic Status Effect.
  • Despite all being Skelecogs, the Cogs found in the Overclocked and Highly Unstable Overclocked gamemodes do not get the Skeletal Structure buff.
  • All Managers in the Overclocked Face the Family gamemodes intentionally have different health values.
